Glass Artwork Project Portfolio
Starting in 2006, I took a class at the University Art Centre from a flyer that was in my mailbox. It was advertising a course on how stained glass was made, among other things. Naively, I believed this to be the creation of the glass itself, not the art form of taking the glass and creating panels, but not being the type to give up on things, and finding the first class interesting, I stayed for the entire course. During the course, I created my first ever piece, a small penguin. Towards the end of the course, my instructor paid me a great compliment and stated that she had never seen anyone so naturally talented and attributed it to my being an engineer.
From then on, until I graduated from the Electrical Engineering program, I spent as much of my spare time as I could soaking up the knowledge and lessons from my first mentor. Little did I know at the time that this would put me down a path that would ultimately change my life leading to the eventual creation of Moonlit Meadow Artificers, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
This was my first large-format art panel, a custom-design that I created of an dolphin underwater and framed in oak. It uses two of my favourite types of glass, GNA and Armstrong ripple glass.
Experimenting with other types of glass art, this concrete garden paver was created as a gift for one of the staff at the University during my final summer semester there. It is based on the statue in front of the College of Engineering at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
This solid oak table was just discarded and was headed to the landfill. It had originally been painted over and the sheet glass was missing, but that didn't stop us from stripping the paint, restoring the table, building a custom under-lighting system, and a gorgeous geometric pattern.
Practical applications are just as important! After some new cabinets were installed, there was a little bit of a gap above the microwave that was just begging to have something installed, so using clear art glass from Armstrong with various textures, this beautiful geometric pattern was created, realised, and ultimately installed.
The owner of this panel was tired of people always coming up to their front porch and looking in the door, so we created this cute little panel based off the whimsical daycare nature that the home used to be. We also worked with a local door company to get it framed for this installation because of the thick door that it was being placed in.
Sometimes, people just want the simple things in life. These cute little candle holders were 4" cubed with a mirrored bottom to help reflect the light up and out from the tea light candle inside. These look great outside on a shepard's hook to create a nice nighttime garden aesthetic.
For several years, we created and donated our stained glass panels to the Desert Bus for Hope Craft-Along auctions. During DB5, we converted their logo to stained glass for the first time to create this unique panel that mimics the Desert Bus logo that year.
In addition to the DB5 logo that was created that year, we also created the logo of the organisation that hosted the fundraising event, Loading Ready Run.
For several years, we created and donated our stained glass panels to the Desert Bus for Hope Craft-Along auctions. During DB6, we worked with another glass artist in Seattle before we began doing our own fused work to create this unique panel that mimics the Desert Bus logo that year.
For several years, we created and donated our stained glass panels to the Desert Bus for Hope Craft-Along auctions. During DB7, we worked with the same glass artist in Seattle that we did for DB6 and improved on our techniques from the year before to create this beautiful panel that mimics the Desert Bus logo that year. We went with U-channel and H-channel came this year too to add a level of geometric polish to the final piece that we really loved.
This simple 8" mariner's compass was created as a holiday gift for a client whose family member loved to incorporate this pattern into their quilts, so the client thought this would make a great addition to their quilting room.
For several years, we created and donated our stained glass panels to the Desert Bus for Hope Craft-Along auctions. During DB8, we worked with the same glass artist in Seattle that we did for DB6 and DB7 further improving on our techniques from the years before to create this beautiful panel that mimics the Desert Bus logo that year.
Desert Bus 8 was the final year that we participated in the Craft-Along event and as a thank you to the staff at Loading Ready Run for everything that they've done for the Child's Play Charity, this custom-designed stained glass panel was built for the window above the stairs in Moonbase Mk III. During subsequent moves, they've held on to this panel and occasionally it can be spotted in their videos! Click the link for the reveal video that was recorded during Desert Bus.
No request is too small! This was created for someone who loves little rubber ducks and was designed to be an ornament to hang in their Christmas Tree that year.
This Trans Pride Flag was comissioned by a member of Arizona Public Services' LGBT Alliance Employee Group. It was created as a donation item for an auction to raise money for Phoenix's one•n•ten non-profit organisation, which serves LGBTQ youth and young adults ages 11-24.
Created as a gift for a Harry Potter fan and fellow Pagan, the Deathly Hollows were combined with the Triple Moon to create this unique and one-of-a-kind stained glass 8" x 12" panel meant to be hung in the recipient's bedroom window.
